CHIPLEY? The 3rd annual Washington County SheriffÂ’s Office Rodeo was held Friday and Saturday, September 10 and 11, at the Washington County Equestrian Center.

The rodeo include all the events  one would expect to see, such as barrel racing, bull riding and the kid favorite “mutton busting.”

New this year was an appearance by “Colt .45,” a professional rodeo clown, barrel-man, and arena entertainer. Colt kept the crowd entertained between events with his Appaloosa Mini Pony, Magic Mike.

The SheriffÂ’s Office also took a moment to honor the lives of the 13 U.S. service men and women killed in Afghanistan on August 26, as well as commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Sheriff Crews says he is appreciative of the support he continues to see for the rodeo.

“We have just had a tremendous amount of support from not only the community, but from our Board of County Commissioners, and businesses both in and out of Washington County,” he said.

“Being able to bring this event to Washington County is one of the highlights of my career,” said Crews. “We are lucky to live in a county where we can all come together and provide safe, fun and quality entertainment to the citizens of Washington County.”

Crews says the rodeo is one of the community events hosted by the SheriffÂ’s Office.

“The rodeo is  the fundraiser for the  Christmas Toy Drive, which is the largest event hosted by WCSO,” said Crews. “Events such as this would not be possible without the support of business sponsors. We are truly thankful for them.”
