Two in custody after cross-county pursuit

Two were arrested Thursday afternoon following a pursuit that spanned Holmes and Washington Counties.

Holmes County Sheriff’s Office reports the incident began when HCSO investigators attempted to serve an arrest warrant on Derek Bush at a Foxworth Road address. Bush had outstanding warrants for trafficking in methamphetamines out of Holmes County.

Investigators met Bush on the dirt road driving a white BMW car and attempted to stop the vehicle. Bush refused to stop, and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit led south on Hwy 177 and then west onto Howell Williams Road and over to Beall Packing Road.

The pursuit then continued west onto Caney Branch Road and over to Bonifay Gritney Road before Bush turned south on 179 into Caryville.

Once in Washington County, he turned south onto St Marys Road and fled over to Pleasant Hill Road where the vehicle became disabled on Union Hill Road. Bush and a female passenger identified as Stacy Wilson then bailed from the car and fled on foot.

K-9 units from Holmes and Northwest Florida Correctional Institutions responded and began tracking.

Wilson was quickly apprehended by the K9 units and taken into custody. Bush was also tracked and eventually taken into custody.

Bush faces charges of trafficking methamphetamine, fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, driving while license suspended, and resisting arrest without violence out of Holmes County. He also has numerous outstanding warrants out of Washington County.

Wilson, who is currently on state probation, faces charges of resisting arrest without violence and violation of state probation.

Holmes County Sheriff John Tate expressed his appreciation to Washington County Sheriff Kevin Crews and WCSO deputies,  as well as Florida Highway Patrol, Bay County Sheriff’s Office Air One, Bonifay Police Department, and the Holmes CI and NWFRC K9 teams for their assistance.
