Suspicious package causes explosion scare

CHIPLEY – After receiving a call concerning a possible explosive device on Monday, December 13, the Chipley Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to Wal-Mart to investigate the situation.

CPD and CFD arrived and began the investigation of the suspected package which turned out to not to be an explosive device.  The package is believed to be a return that someone filled with scrap pieces and parts to mimic the weight of what was supposed to be in the box. The box was cleared and removed from the store.
