Chipley woman jailed on drug charges

A Chipley woman is in custody after a traffic stop during the late night hours of March 22.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Pioneer Road just east of Highway 77 and found the vehicle was uninsured and a seize tag order was in place. The driver of the vehicle was identified at Lawana Faith Russell, 46, of Chipley.

While stopped, a department issued K-9 was deployed and positively alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. WCSO conducted a search of the vehicle and found illegal narcotics and paraphernalia.

Russell was taken into custody and is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. While being booked into the Washington County Jail, Russell was found to have additional paraphernalia in her possession.
