FRIDAY UPDATE
The Gaston Road fire is 90 percent contained according to Division of Forestry who is continuing to monitor the active scene.

PREVIOUS UPDATE
The Gaston Road fire is 80 percent contained according to Emergency Management officials in a statement to Washington County News on Thursday morning.
The scene was turned over to Division of Forestry on Wednesday night, March 30, who then released all the volunteer fire departments who responded to the fire.
Residents were allowed to return to their homes around 9:30 p.m. once the fire had been mostly contained.
Division of Forestry is continuing to monitor the active scene.
