One arrested for failure to register as sex offender

Failure to register as a sex offender has landed one man in the Washington County Jail.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) investigators received information regarding 61-year-old David Alford residing at a home on Spoolmill Road in Vernon.

After confirming Alford’s status as a sex offender through FDLE and his failure to register in any county in the state, investigators made their way to the residence.

Upon arriving at the Spoolmill Road residence, contact was made with a male subject who gave false identity information but quickly retracted his answer and saying, ‘yes sir, I’m sorry,” according to a WCSO report. Alford then began to run from investigators but was quickly taken into custody.

Alford is charged with providing false information to LEO about a sex offender, failure to report name or residence change, failure to register as required and resisting arrest without violence.
