DUI investigation leads to drug arrest


A Chipley man was arrested, after Washington County Sheriff’s deputies found him impaired behind the wheel of a vehicle.

On July 5 at approximately 9:20 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle being driven by Timothy Edward Manney, 31, on Lucas Lake Road.

As the vehicle came to an abrupt stop, deputies witness Manney and the passenger change seats and exit the vehicle in haste.The deputies asked the occupants to return to the vehicle, where they were detained for questioning. 

A department issued K-9 was deployed and gave a positive alert to the vehicle for the odor of narcotics.

A subsequent search the vehicle resulted in deputies locating a couple baggies of crystal methamphetamine, glass smoking pipes and an open container of an alcoholic beverage which resulted in a DUI investigation.

Manney, who was out on bond for previous charges, was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail on the new charges of operating a vehicle with a suspended license, driving while under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine.
