Investigators with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office report that preliminary findings indicate the subject of this morning’s death investigation in the area of Pate Pond Road and Union Hill Road died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“While the investigation is still in its early stages, WCSO investigators responded to the scene where they discovered a white female in her twenties deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” said WCSO in a statement Monday afternoon. “The victim’s family, who lives in close proximity to where the body was located, just recently moved here from Tennessee and have only been residents of Washington County for a few weeks.
