The Washington County Council on Aging received a sizable Christmas blessing from Florida Power & Light (FPL) on Friday.
Executive Director Tracey Long said the Council on Aging provides services and resources to seniors and disabled citizens in Washington County every day. While the agency receives some state funding to take care of local residents, Long said it is the support of volunteers and donations from the community that also make their work possible.
Tracy Andrews, external affairs manager at FPL and mayor of Chipley, presented a check for $10,000 to the Council on Aging. Long said the funds will help provide 1,000 meals, service 476 hours of in-home services or care for two respite/day center clients for an entire year.
