Rubi’s Smak’n Shak wheels in delectable wings

Food trucks are all the rage these days and hometown boy Miken Hooks has taken the industry by storm with Rubi’s Smak’n Shak.

What began as a snack bar at the now closed Rubicon Pool Hall and Arcade has morphed into a booming food truck serving Chipley and the surrounding areas. The menu includes wings, chicken strips, fried shrimp, steak and potatoes and much more. Hooks said the best seller is their wings.

“We have a secret marinade we use for our wings that gives them that extra goodness,†Hooks said. “We now have 25 flavors of wings giving people plenty of options to choose from.â€

All options are fresh made and the fries are hand cut daily.

Hooks said they are hoping to have a second truck up and running within the next month.

“The demand is so high that we need to add a second truck,†Hooks said. “We serve 12 locations during the week from Panama City to Graceville. The second truck will help us meet that demand.â€

Quality is top priority for Hooks and his crew.

“We want to serve the best product,†he said. “We will not change anything. Things will taste the same every time you order it.â€

Rubi’s Smak’n Shak also does catering for events. Hooks said Rubi’s will be setting up at Boat Lake on weekends starting at the end of March through May.

Rubi’s posts a menu and schedule of where the food truck will be on their Facebook page. To call in an order, dial 850-726-0853.
