By Staff ReportA Chipley man already in jail will remain there after recently pleading guilty to molestation charges in a sexual battery case.
Jeffrey Lynn Stephenson, 59 years old, has been extradited back to Washington County after the Washington County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into sexual battery. Stephenson was found to be incarcerated in the Walton County Jail for similar reasons after warrants were obtained.
“Prior to this case, Stephenson was charged and convicted in February 2018, for Lewd and Lascivious Exhibition, with a victim under the age of 16 and sentenced to 24 months with the Department of Corrections,†a news release said. “In August 2022, Stephenson was arrested yet again for indecent exposure and failed to appear for his court date.â€
Stephenson will serve a 20-year sentence, designated a sexual predator upon release and required to register with the county of residence.
