While on his way to the electronic dance music festival Sol Fest in nearby Ponce de Leon, a New Port Richey man was arrested by the Chipley Police Department in the parking lot of the Chipley Walmart after an investigator smelled what they believed to be marijuana.

The investigator “observed suspicious activity” with a group of individuals in the parking lot on Thursday, May 2, the CPD said in a news release.

“Upon approaching the group of individuals involved, the investigator detected the distinct odor of marijuana,” the news release said. “Additionally, one individual was observed holding a bong. The subject was identified as Corben Osborn.”

A subsequent investigation and a probable cause search of Osborn’s vehicle unveiled what the CPD said was a “significant amount of illegal substances,” the inventory which allegedly included LSD, ketamine, whippets, THC Wax, marijuana, and mushrooms, according to the CPD.

“Further information revealed that the group of individuals were en route to Sol Fest, scheduled to take place at the nearby Vortex Springs in Ponce De Leon,” the news release said. “The Chipley Police Department remains committed to combating illegal drug activities within our community and will continue to uphold the law to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents and visitors.”
