Registration is still open for the free 21st Century Community Learning Center Program at Vernon Elementary School and Kate Smith Elementary. The program runs September 14 through May 14, Monday through Thursday from 2:30 to 5 p.m., and is open to students in grades 3 through 8.
This year’s theme, “Getting Ready for Take Off! Soaring Beyond Expectations!”, will take students on a global learning adventure featuring a new destination each week. Students will combine academics with art, music, and hands-on activities while exploring different places and cultures.
Activities include academic support in math, reading, and STEM, along with enrichment opportunities such as martial arts, art, music, and more. Snacks will be provided, and students may bring an additional snack if desired. Community bus stops will also be available, with transportation details provided with the application.
Space is limited, and enrollment will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Students who apply after the program reaches capacity will be placed on a waitlist. Consistent attendance is encouraged so students can get the full benefits of the program.
