WASHINGTON COUNTY – A high-speed pursuit originating in Bay County made its way into Washington County just before noon where Washington County SheriffÂ’s Office continued the chase.
The Washington County SheriffÂ’s Office was contacted by the Bay County SheriffÂ’s Office when a pursuit of a stolen vehicle out of Alabama was approaching the Washington County line. The suspect lead law enforcement north on State Road 77 where the WCSO deputies pursued the suspect down Moss Hill Road into Vernon and continued north on State Road 79.
The Florida Highway Patrol assisted in the efforts to apprehend Kristopher Damian Burton,40, of Waterloo, South Carolina.
Burton was booked into the Washington County Jail on local charges of fleeing and eluding at a high rate of speed. In addition to local charges, Burton also has multiple outstanding warrants. Additional charges are pending.
