Holmes County man in custody, stolen vehicle recovered

WASHINGTON COUNTY
– A joint effort between Washington and Pasco County Sheriff’s Offices
ended with a Holmes County man in custody and a stolen vehicle
recovered.

On July 20, an investigator from Pasco County SheriffÂ’s Office contacted the Washington County SheriffÂ’s Office attempting to locate a stolen vehicle.  According to investigators, Donald Karl Pape, 54, of Holmes County, had written a check to a dealership to purchase a vehicle in their jurisdiction.  Investigators also stated the vehicles OnStar feature had been disabled and at such time, relayed the address of its last location.  PCSO discovered Pape had unrelated active warrants.

WCSO confirmed Pape had outstanding warrants out of Bay County.  While enroute to the vehicleÂ’s location deputies saw an oncoming vehicle with Pape inside.

The deputies conducted a traffic stop where Pape was detained.  According to a release from WSCO, Pape explained his side of the story and asked if deputies were coming to retrieve the stolen vehicle. Pape and the passenger both stated the location of the stolen vehicle and handed over the keys.

The stolen vehicle was recovered, and Pape was arrested on the outstanding warrants. More charges are expected to follow from Pasco County.
