3rd annual WCSO rodeo is this weekend

CHIPLEY – The 3rd annual Washington County SheriffÂ’s Office rodeo will be held this Friday and Saturday, September 10 and 11, at the Washington County Equestrian Center, located at 2574 Daniels Lake Road in Chipley.

Sheriff Kevin Crews says that this yearÂ’s rodeo will have several improvements, including more parking and more seating.

The kid favorite “mutton busting”will return nightly, as well as traditional events such as bullriding, barrel racing, and team roping.

New this year is an appearance by “Colt .45,” a professional rodeo clown, barrel-man, and arena entertainer.

Colt is also a United States Veteran, having served in the United States Navy 2004-2008 onboard the nuclear carrier USS George Washington CVN73.

Colt .45 is well known for his Wild Bucking Pony Act and comedic Rodeo Queen Skit.

The newest addition to the HarttÂ’s Clown Posse is his new friend “Magic Mike”, a 7-year-old stud Appaloosa Mini Pony.

Sheriff Crews says he is appreciative of the support he continues to see for the rodeo.

“We have just had a tremendous amount of support from not only the community, but  from our Board of County Commissioners,  and businesses both in and out of Washington County,” he said.

Gates open nightly at 5 p.m. with the rodeo activities beginning at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $10 at the door and $8 in advance with children ages five and under admitted for free.

Tickets may be purchased at: Harris Farm Supply, DeeÂ’s Resturant, Fast Lane convenience store, The Westerner, and Orange Hill Express.
