WASHINGTON COUNTY -A Nashville woman is behind bars on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after an altercation on Highway 79.

Washington County Communication Center fielded a call around 4 p.m. on September 5 with witnesses stating a man was walking south on Highway 79 acting erratically. While deputies were enroute, they observed a female signaling for help with a visible gunshot wound to the arm. The victim identified the assailant as Charlotte Briann Rollins,33, of Nashville, TN. WCSO deputies secured the scene and called EMS to transport the victim to the hospital.

An investigation found that four individuals were traveling to Panama City Beach to check on RollinsÂ’ grandfather who is under hospice care. While traveling, an argument erupted between Rollins and a female passenger and resulted in the two engaging in a physical altercation on the side of the highway. When the trip resumed, they had entered Washington County on Highway 79 near Johnson Road where another physical altercation erupted resulting in Rollins shooting the female passenger in the arm.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was later released from the hospital. The investigation is still ongoing.

Rollins was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Additional charges in the case are pending.
