Man in custody after attempting to flee

WASHINGTON COUNTY – A fugitive out of Holmes County was taken into custody on Friday, October 8, by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

WCSO received a tip that Phillip Daniel Pippin, 34, was believed to be at a residence on Jewel Road. Pippin had felony warrants out of Holmes County and had skipped out on his bail.

When WCSO deputies arrived at the residence they saw Pippin flee from the home in an attempt to elude deputies. After a short foot race and several commands to stop, the deputy then deployed his taser, striking Pippin.

Pippin was taken into custody for the felony warrants and is also being charged with resisting arrest.
