Task Force arrests one, seeks second

Members of the Washington County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on Jan. 14, leading to placing two Chipley men behind bars on multiple drug charges.

The Task Force is made up of members of the Chipley Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The search warrant was served on a residence located at 595 Fourth Street in Chipley. When investigators entered the residence they found Howard L. Smith, 56, of Chipley, present.  During the search, investigators located marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and several firearms. 

Howard Smith was arrested and is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of drug paraphernalia. The co-resident was not present at the time but has been identified as Michael A. Smith, 54, of Chipley. Michael Smith has an active warrant related to the case.





        Michael A. Smith (outstanding warrant) is charged with possession of methamphetamine           with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
