A Chipley woman is dead and her 20-year-old female passenger is in critical condition after an accident late in the afternoon on Jan. 31.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 21-year-old female was traveling east on Olie Road when for unknown reasons the vehicle traveled onto the north shoulder of the road. The front left of the vehicle struck a tree and began to rotate in a counter-clockwise direction while traveling southeast. The vehicle came to rest in the middle of Olie Road facing northwest.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was reportedly life flighted. According to FHP, neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt.
