3 struck by car, sustain minor injuries
A 32-year-old Chipley man and two children were injured Wednesday, March 16, when they were struck by a car in the crosswalk at Church Avenue on the east side of State Road 77 in Chipley.
According to law enforcement reports, the driver, a 26-year-old Chipley woman was in the left turn lane of SR 77, waiting to turn left onto Church Avenue when the man and his children, ages 6 and 7, activated the pedestrian crossing signal.
The children, who were riding Razor scooters, proceeded to cross the street upon seeing the signal indicating it was safe for pedestrian crossing. Both children were struck by the car, which was traveling at a low rate of speed to navigate its turn. The children’s father was also struck while attempting to remove the children from the vehicle’s path.
The father and children were transported to a local hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released.
There are no traffic citations pending for the driver at this time.
