Alabama men arrested after traffic pursuit in Washington County

Two Alabama men were arrested following a traffic pursuit that ended in Washington County on Saturday, March 19.

Shaughneysy Mingnon Brown, 18,  and Rodricous Antonio Martin, 19, were observed speeding in a red KIA Forte on US 231 just south of State Road 20, in Bay County at around 5:30 a.m.

A state trooper attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle but disengaged after the drivier continued to accelerate northbound away from him through the traffic light at the intersection of State Road 20.

As the Trooper notified dispatch, it was discovered that the vehicle he attempted to stop had been reported stolen to the Panama City Police Department.

The vehicle crashed into the median in the area of the 121-mile marker. The two occupants exited the vehicle and began to run along the interstate in an attempt to flee the area.

The trooper that observed the crash was able to detain and arrest the driver. The passenger, however, ran into the woods on the south shoulder.

A K-9 trooper arrived on scene and began tracking the passenger and was able to successfully locate and apprehend him.

Following the arrest, both the passenger and driver were medically cleared and transported to the Washington County Jail.

Both driver and passenger face multiple criminal charges to include: grand theft auto, aggravated fleeing, reckless driving, resisting arrest, battery on police K-9, possession of a concealed firearm, possession of crack cocaine and marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with no valid drivers liscense.
