Vernon man behind bars on warrant; stolen car

A Vernon man is in custody after allegedly stealing a vehicle from Panama City Beach.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a call on May 3 in reference to a suspicious person near Sugardoll Road and Highway 79.

A crew that was working in the area advised WCSO of a male subject who became irate after refusing to let him make a call on their company phone.

When WCSO made contact with the man just north of the area, he identified himself as Phillip Dean Weeks, 41, of Vernon.

Weeks told deputies his car had broken down south of their location stating the car was a 2007 Black Toyota Camry and that the motor had blown up.

WCSO ran an information check through dispatch and was made aware of an outstanding warrant. Weeks was a possible suspect in a stolen vehicle case out of Panama City Beach on a ’07 Black Toyota Camry.

Weeks was arrested on the outstanding warrant.
