A 21-year-old Defuniak Springs man is dead after his vehicle overturned on Interstate 10 on Friday.
Just before 4 p.m. a red 2000 Nissan pickup truck was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 at mile marker 125. Florida Highway Patrol’s preliminary investigation revealed the truck entered into the grass median and then attempted to re-enter the roadway. The driver’s actions caused the vehicle to cross over to the emergency lane where it began to overturn several times.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 33-year-old male passenger received minor injuries.
FHP closed the roadway for several hours to safely investigate and clean up the scene. A detour for westbound traffic has been established at the mile marker 130 Cottondale exit. FHP will update when the roadway re-opens.
