Stabbing suspect behind bars
A Chipley man is behind bars after allegedly stabbing his roommate on May 5.
Washington County 911 Telecommunications Center received a call on May in reference to a possible stabbing in the 3900 block of Highway 77, in Chipley. When Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived on scene, they observed a 23-year-old male with a non-life-threatening puncture wound to his abdomen.
As aide was being rendered, the victim identified the suspect to be 23-year-old Austin Cody Hallmark.
The victim stated that he and Hallmark had been roommates for around two weeks but could provide no reason why Hallmark had stabbed him.
WCSO went to Hallmarks residence but were unable to locate him. Investigators obtained a warrant for Hallmark and conducted interviews.
On May 12, WCSO received information on Hallmark’s whereabouts where he was located and taken into custody without incident.
Hallmark is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
