Wausau man jailed on multiple drug charges


A Wausau man is behind bars on multiple drug charges after a call came into the Washington County Sheriff’s Office regarding a suspicious person.

The caller reported a suspicious man sitting in the parking lot of a convenience store in Wausau on Sunday just before 8 a.m. When deputies arrived on scene they observed a vehicle with the horn going off every few seconds.

The man inside the vehicle was identified as 38-year-old Carlton Chance Harrell of Wausau.

Harrell was sitting in the vehicle going in and out of consciousness causing his head to hit the horn, according to WCSO. WCSO requested EMS to respond.

A search of Harrell’s vehicle was conducted in which deputies found a green container that later field tested positive for methamphetamine, a clear baggie containing marijuana in Harrell’s pocket, a cigarette pack with a clear plastic baggie containing several pills and several containers of medical marijuana.

Harrell was cleared by EMS. He is charged with possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of marijuana, two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, felony trafficking of a controlled substance and DUI.
