Former bus driver given probation in molestation case

John Robert White

Former Vernon school bus driver John Robert White, 50, pled no contest to four counts of lewd and lascivious conduct on July 17 and was sentenced to 10 years of sex offender probation.

White is accused of molesting multiple victims during his employment as a school bus driver for the Washington County School District.

Fourteenth Judicial Circuit Chief Circuit Judge Christopher Patterson accepted the plea with the following terms: White will adhere to a curfew of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., cannot live within 1,000 feet of a school or any place minors congregate, and he must complete a sex offender rehabilitation program.

Further terms of the plea deal state White not allowed to access the internet, must submit to electronic monitoring, and cannot have any contact with children under the age of 18.

White is expected to return to court, where his attorney, Waylon Graham, is expected to request a modification of the term agreements in order for White to work at two family businesses. At one business, White will need to access the internet on a computer for business related purposes. The second business is a pet store at which White is expected to ask for permission to work on site.
