WC Council on Aging looking for donations

Washington County Council on Aging (COA) is a hub for senior activities with their community center, day center and other monthly activities for seniors. With those, donations sometimes run low and supplies need to be replenished.

The day center provides respite care for those with early onset dementia in order to give their caregivers a needed break. COA provides snacks and drinks for clients but are currently running low on their favorites of each.

Their favorites include Hawaiian Punch (any flavor) Great Value brand sugar free low calorie drink mixes in grape, strawberry orange banana, and strawberry watermelon. Coffee, creamer and soft style snacks are also in demand. The drinks and snacks are shared between the two centers.

Community Outreach Coordinator Geri Cox says COA offers many activities, services and trips.

“We have many exciting things happening here at COA,†Cox said. “Aside from our regular monthly activities, we have a five day trip to Biltmore House coming up in October that those interested can still sign up for. We also have a Christmas event in December and food trucks that come once a month. Maria’s Tacos will be here on October 27, and we are excited to have them.â€

Monthly activities include bingo, a birthday party, art classes and an exercise class.
