The Vernon Yellow Jackets fell at home to the Port St. Joe Sharks by the score of 39-9 on Oct. 6. Junior Tristan Pugh led the VHS defense with seven tackles and senior Ryan Scott led the offense with 72 yards passing with a touchdown pass to junior Kyle Bennett.
Sophomore running back Caden Hammack added 24 yards rushing and 48 yards on three receptions for the Jackets.
The loss drops Vernon to 2-4 for the season with winless Graceville Tigers coming to town this Friday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. for a homecoming matchup with the Yellow Jackets.
