Vernon pedestrian injured in vehicle fire

A 56-year-old pedestrian from Vernon was injured after attempting to extinguish a vehicle fire at the intersection of state roads 79 and 20.

The unidentified man was seriously injured on Saturday, Oct. 28, after he stopped to assist a vehicle truck pulling a utility trailer engulfed in flames, a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The driver, a 72-year-old man from Panama City Beach, was not injured.
