During the Monday, February 9 regular meeting, the Washington County School Board (WCSB) recognized several individuals and organizations for their contributions to the district and their achievements so far during the 2025–2026 school year. These recognitions highlighted partnerships that support district initiatives, student academic accomplishments, employee excellence, and community involvement that benefits Washington County students.
Mike Klassen (pictured left), Forester at Pine Log State Forest with the Florida Forest Service, presents a check for $6,532.76 to Superintendent Thomas Register (pictured right) and the WCSB in support of education. The funds reflect the distribution of Pine Log State Forest receipts for fiscal year 2024–2025. The Board recognized the 2025–2026 District Spelling Bee winners. Director of Safety Kim Register acknowledged the students for their outstanding performance in the district competition. Samuel Curry (pictured center), a fifth-grade student at Vernon Elementary School (VES), earned first place, followed by Katie Sapp, a seventh-grade student at Roulhac Middle School, in second place, and Emily Kirkland, a sixth-grade student, in third place.
