Update: Domestic violence suspect captured after overnight manhunt


Update:

Elis Francois Vargas Sterling was captured around 6:30 Friday morning.

Sterling was wanted in connection to a domestic violence incident that occurred late Thursday night that left the victim with non-life threatening stab wounds.

WCSO said Sterling was trying to flee the area in the rear of a vehicle.

A manhunt is underway in the Grassy Pond community for a suspect wanted in connection to a domestic violence incident that left the victim with non-life threatening stab wounds. 

Washington County Sheriff’s Office issued the alert Thursday night in search of the suspect, 23-year-old Elis Francois Vargas Sterling. Deputies were on scene along with the Department of Correction dog teams and air support searching the area of the home where the incident occurred. 

The public has been advised to remain indoors as Sterling is considered armed and dangerous. Sterling was last seen fleeing on foot into the woods near the home wearing a dark colored t-shirt and Hawaiian style swim shorts and may be barefoot.
