Looking to get a tattoo? Check out Main Street Tattoo Emporium in Chipley where you can get quality work at a great price.

Owner Phil Mullins, also known as Sailor Phil, has been tattooing professionally for about eight years. Mullins opened Main Street when he saw the need for a tattoo studio in Chipley after the former tattoo business closed up shop. The original location was in the historic downtown area but moved to the current location at 935 Main Street about a year ago.

While Mullins specializes in the American traditional style, there are four other artists in the shop who specialize in different styles.

“We can pretty much cover every style that someone wants with any of the artists that are in this shop,†Mullins said. “We pride ourselves on honesty, so if a client comes to us and we can’t do that particular style, we will point them to another artist in the shop that can.â€

Tattoos are not the only service provided at Main Street – piercings and cosmetic tattoos are also available.

Mullins said the emotional pieces are his favorite to tattoo.

“I love making people happy, especially on emotional pieces,†he said. “Memorial tattoos mean the most, I truly enjoy bringing clients’ visions to life. Hearing the stories that go along with those types of pieces means so much to me. It allows me to interact with them which is one of the best things about what I do.â€

The end goal for Mullins is to own a building for the shop to be permanently housed.

“I would love to have the business carry on for another twenty years or more,†he said. “There is always the possibility that the shop could pass on to someone who will want to continue to serve Washington and Holmes Counties.â€

Each artist has their own shop minimum, but Mullins says it is more about integrity.

“For us in this shop, it isn’t about making money so much as giving our client the best tattoo that we can,†he said.

Main Street Tattoo Emporium is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to whenever the last client is finished. Walk-ins are not currently available due to the artists staying busy, but Mullins is working to find a walk-ins artist.
