Washington County Historical Society opens the Judge EW Carswell Reference and Research Library

The Washington County Historical Society has recently completed the Judge EW Carswell Reference and Research Library.

The organization recently showcased the addition during a Thursday evening “Sip ‘n Shop†event.

The reference area contains the Blackburn Funeral Home, Wachob Funeral Home, and some of Brown Funeral Home records from the 1940s to 1995. The records contain insurance policies, death certificates, and some other personal information on many of the records. Historical society members state the collection is “a genealogist’s dream.â€

The Museum also has bound newspapers from the Chipley Banner, Washington County News and Street Talk as well. They have yearbooks from many of the schools in Washington County and FSU.

The museum also has books by local authors on the history of this area.

The museum invites the public to view the records and research area. The museum is currently open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays.
