Chipley man arrested for obscene communication with a child

Kevin L. Pierce

A Chipley man is behind bars after an investigation by the Chipley Police Department.

Kevin L. Pierce, 44, was arrested on September 1 and charged with obscene communication, use of a computer to seduce, solicit or lure a child.

Pierce’s arrest came after a concerned mother checked her child’s phone and found inappropriate messages and images between Pierce and the child, according to a report from CPD. Pierce was using the name “Dusty†on the messaging app.

On August 18, CPD began the investigation. Pierce provided a phone number in the messages as a way for the child to contact him. Investigators were able to identify Pierce by cross referencing Facebook accounts, where investigators  recognized him as Kevin Pierce.

CPD made initial contact with Pierce and questioned him regarding his Facebook

profiles and his cellular phone number. While questioning Pierce, an officer called the number provided by the victim and found Pierce’s phone was ringing. Pierce’s phone was seized by investigators.

An interview was conducted with Pierce on August 30 and a warrant was obtained on August 31.

Pierce is currently in the Washington County Jail.
