County commission has annual leadership reorganization

The Washington County Board of County Commissioners has a new chairman.

David Pettis was selected to take over the position from former chairman Tray Hawkins on Thursday, Nov. 16, as part of an annual reorganization process.

Pettis represents District 2 and was elected to the board in 2022. 

“I’ve never done this before so we’re going to go through this first time together,” Pettis said. 

David Corbin was chosen to continue on as vice chairman and was appointed to the board in 2022 by Gov. Ron DeSantis following the death of Commissioner Steve Joyner.
