The Chipley community is rallying around Randy McKinnie and his family after their home was destroyed by a fire on Sunday, July 19.
McKinnie serves as running backs coach for Chipley High School football, assistant basketball coach at Chipley High School, a physical education teacher at Roulhac Middle School, and a coach for the school’s basketball and baseball teams.
According to Chipley High School Head Football Coach Marcus Buchanan, the family lost school supplies, school clothes, and other belongings purchased for the upcoming school year.
Since the fire, community members and local organizations have provided financial donations, gift cards, clothing, and other assistance to help the family recover. Buchanan said the support has been very good, and the McKinnie family is grateful for the generosity shown by the community.
The Tiger Football Club will continue those efforts by donating a portion of the proceeds from its First Annual Drawdown event which is scheduled for Friday, July 31, to the McKinnie family.
Those wishing to contribute or learn more about ongoing donation efforts are encouraged to contact the Chipley High School football program.
