The Country Oaks Volunteer Fire Department hosted its Summertime Kids Day Camp on Saturday, July 18, offering children a hands‑on look at fire safety and emergency response. The day‑long event, held at the department’s station on Quail Hollow Boulevard, featured activities including climbing aboard fire trucks, navigating a firefighter obstacle course, spraying water, and practicing how to “put out” a simulated fire.

Firefighters provided demonstrations and explained how their equipment works, giving participants an opportunity to learn more about the duties and responsibilities of the fire service.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office also attended the event, where K‑9 Maddie performed a demonstration showing how she searches for contraband.

The camp ran from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and welcomed families for a day of education, community engagement, and summer fun.
