The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is preparing to make Christmas a little brighter for about 200 local families as the agency puts the final touches on organizing thousands of gifts donated through the annual “Deputy Jingles’ Toy Drive.”
Sheriff Kevin Crews says several local businesses, organizations, individuals, and WCSO staff members helped make the event a success through donations of not only money and gifts, but also their time.
“Not only did people donate presents, many also spent time shopping, especially members of my staff,” he said.
“The entire community had a hand in the success of this toy drive, really, due to the incredible support for fundraising events we have throughout the year such as the WCSO rodeo. Each person who simply attended and enjoyed that event helped us put a smile on a child this Christmas.”
Families participating in the annual toy program began picking up gifts at the sheriff’s office this week.
