SUV driver involved in Halloween hayride accident dies


CHIPLEY –  The driver of a SUV involved in a rear end collision with a trailer pulling several people for a Halloween ride has died from injuries sustained in the accident. 

46- year-old male from Chipley was was traveling east on Corbin Road behind the a 24 foot trailer with approximately 30 passengers on a hay ride. Hlorida Highway Patrol reported that the SUV driver did not slow, causing the front of SUV to collide with the rear of the trailer. He was transported  by helicopter to Southeast Medical Center in Dothan.  According to reports, the driver died on November 2 at Ascension Hospital in Panama City. 

Several of the passengers were reportedly ejected from the trailer. One juvenile was transported by ambulance to Gulf Coast Medical Center in Panama City and several passengers from the hay ride were transported to local hospitals by family members. 

The FHP have said the investigation into the accident is ongoing. We will update readers and more information is made available.
