On Wednesday, The Arc Building of Washington County and Holmes County, located at 1335 South Blvd, was the scene of flashing lights and smoke. At approximately 8:35 a.m., the Chipley Fire Department responded to reports of a fire and smoke at the facility. According to Chipley Fire Department Chief Hunter Aycock, the fire originated from a clothes dryer.
The building was promptly evacuated, and no injuries were reported. The Arc Building, which provides services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Washington and Holmes Counties, will remain closed until Friday. This closure will allow time for the smoke to vent and ensure the area is safe for employees and clients.
