SUV driver causes havoc for Halloween revelers


CHIPLEY – Halloween festivities were interrupted when  a 46-year-old male from Chipley driving an sport utility vehicle caused an accident resulting in several injuries. 

On Saturday, Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 24 -year-old male from Fountain was traveling east on Corbin Road pulling a 24 foot trailer with approximately 30 passengers on a hay ride. The driver of the SUV was traveling east on Corbin Road behind the trailer and did not slow, causing  the front of SUV to collide with the rear of the trailer.

Several of the passengers were reportedly ejected from the trailer. The driver of SUV was transported by helicopter to Southeast Medical Center in Dothan. One juvenile was transported by ambulance to Gulf Coast Medical Center in Panama City and several passengers from the hay ride were transported to local hospitals by family members.
