Vernon native and President of GAC Contractors Derwin White passed away Saturday, July 31.
White, 55, was part of overseeing several local projects during his 35-year career with GAC, including the demolition and reconstruction of the Washington County Courthouse, sitework along Interstate 10, and more recently, upgrades to more than 28 miles of dirt roads in Holmes County.
According to the GAC website, White joined the firm in 1986. During that time, White worked his way up to partner and then President.
GAC Safety Director Andrew Rowell told media partner WMBB, “[White] was a loving and giving person, and he will be greatly missed.”
