WAUSAU – The expansion project on the Possum Palace is expected to be underway in the near future according to Engineer Cliff Knauer as he advised the Wausau Town Council when they met in regular session on Thursday, August 19.
A
$650,000 Community Development Block Grant will fund the 2,000 square
feet expansion as well as improvements to parking with the addition of ADA compliant spaces. Stormwater improvements and new bathrooms are also on the list of improvements.
Knauer
also received approval to move forward with a Department of Economic
Opportunity Hazard Mitigation Grant Program application for two projects. The first of those projects will be fixing Second Street and the culverts along the road that have collapsed. The second will be to replace the well at the Possum Palace as well as the generator. The town is hopeful that both projects will be approved.
Council set the date for a budget workshop on September 2 and 5:30 p.m. with a final budget hearing set for September 30 at 5:30 p.m.
The Wausau Town Council will meet again in regular session at 5 p.m. on September 16.
