CHIPLEY – Officers with the Chipley Police Department responded to a call referencing a disturbance at the Days Inn on Nov. 26.
When officers arrived at the room they made contact with the occupants who were identified as 32-year-old Joseph L. Goodman, of Chipley and 37-year-old Amanda D. Hamilton of Cottondale.
As CPD spoke with Goodman at the door the odor of marijuana was detected coming from the room. Officers were given consent to search the room by Goodman. As they entered the room, Goodman was seen attempting to conceal a container of Narcan – a medicine used to treat opioid overdoses. The search found a box that contained a plastic bag with a crystal substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.
A bag belonging to Holland was located and was found to contain with a crystal substance that also field tested positive for methamphetamine. There were syringes located in the bag as well.
Goodman is charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana less than 20 grams.
Hamilton is charged with actual constructive possession of synthetic cannabinoid and possession of paraphernalia.
