Tornado touchdown on Gilberts Mill Road

Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports a tornado touched down in the early morning hours on Thursday on Gilberts Mill Road and surrounding areas in Washington County.

Witnesses on scene tell Washington County News that the tornado hit two mobile homes, resulting in two fatalities. Emergency responders are still on the property and working to clear the scene. We are also on scene and will report more information as it becomes available.

There are multiple power lines down and the area is unsafe. Please avoid Kent Road east to include Gilberts Mill Road, Kent Mill Pond Road, and Jewell Road. Emergency personnel are in the area due to early morning storms that swept the area. Multiple trees and powerlines are down which are causing dangerous driving conditions.
