A 25-year-old woman and eight-month-old girl from Panama City died Monday, Feb. 26, after a collision involving four vehicles on State Road 20 by Strickland Road in Ebro at approximately 4:45 p.m.
Next of kin has been notified and the two people killed were not identified by name in a Florida Highway Patrol incident report.
The Panama City woman was driving a sedan when the vehicle was rear-ended by a pickup truck driven by a 26-year-old man from Freeport, who was going westbound on State Road 20 and approaching the Strickland Road intersection.
The Freeport driver also crashed into the rear of a third vehicle, driven by a 67-year-old woman from Ebro who sustained serious injuries.
“Due to the manner of collision, Vehicle 1 and 3 were pushed into Vehicle 4 (2020 White Hyundai Santa Fe) which was traveling eastbound on State Road 20,” the FHP report said. “Vehicles 1, 3 and 4 came to final rest partially in the ditch and obstructing the eastbound lane of travel.”
The driver of the fourth vehicle, a 51-year-old woman from Freeport, also sustained serious injuries.
“Injuries were transported to Bay Medical and assisting at the scene was Sheriff Crews and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Ebro VFD, Washington County EMS and the Florida Department of Transportation,” the FHP report said.
