By AMBER PATINOState Representative Shane Abbott has announced upcoming town hall meetings in Holmes and Washington counties to help voters learn more about a proposed constitutional amendment that will appear on the November general election ballot. Passed by the Legislature on June 2, CS/HJR 1F would increase homestead tax exemptions and reduce the assessment cap on non‑homestead property from 10% to 5% per year, according to Abbott.
The Holmes County town hall will take place August 24 at 6 p.m. at Bonifay City Hall, 301 J. Harvey Etheridge Street in Bonifay.
The Washington County town hall is scheduled for September 28 at 6 p.m. in the Washington County Commission Chambers, 1331 South Boulevard in Chipley.
Both meetings are open to the public and will include time for questions.
