An investigation by the Washington County Drug Task Force led to several suspected drug dealers being arrested on felony drug charges.
For the past few months, investigators with Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Chipley Police Department conducted an intense operation and gained a vast amount of information pertaining to the key individuals surrounding the drug activity within Washington County.
The investigation led to the arrest of seven individuals with one remaining at large.
As WCSO and CPD continue the roundup additional arrests are anticipated based on the information provided. The individual listed as ‘at large’ is being pursued by the U.S. Marshal’s Service at this time.
“With the majority of the arrests made during this operation being suspected drug dealers, we are confident we are moving in the right direction as we delve further into the eradication of drugs from our communities,” said Sheriff Kevin Crews. “Because we are still actively seeking one at-large individual, we are asking the public to provide any information which could lead to his arrest.”
Those facing charges stemming from this investigation are:
Steven Bradley Hightower, 42, of Vernon – Sale of Methamphetamine.
James Anthony Roper, 51, of Bonifay – Sale of Methamphetamine.
Jackie Nicole Powell, 41, of Bonifay – Sale of Methamphetamine.
Matthew Ryan Davis, 31, of DeFuniak Springs – Sale of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a specified area.
Deborah Cartwright, 51, of Bonifay – Sale of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a place of worship or business.
Mickey Dewayne Cartwright, 51, of Bonifay – Sale of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a place of worship or business.
Kaitlyn Michelle Parrish-Corbin, 26, of Vernon – Sale of a Schedule I or II Drug.

Daniel Michael Smith Sr., 54, of Chipley – Sale of Methamphetamine within 1000 feet of a place of worship or business.
