Early morning rollover crash leaves one dead, one injured

A single-vehicle rollover crash early Sunday morning left a Dothan man dead and one other with minor injuries.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, at approximately 3:43 a.m. a 2003 Chevy Tahoe driven by a 24-year-old male and passenger, a 20-year-old male also from Dothan, was traveling northbound on State Road 79 approaching Hightower Road south of Vernon when it exited the travel lanes onto the shoulder. 

The vehicle continued in a northeasterly direction before striking a culvert and then began overturning before coming to a final rest on its roof on the east shoulder of S.R. 79.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by Washington County first responders and the passenger was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries, FHP said in a press release.
